Event Review : Which Seat Should I Take. #Arena2018 #eventorganisation #opinionsplease

Before you dismiss this as a hater post, please know that unlike most of my other posts, I am not targeting anyone in particular. Truth be told I tried to let it go but it's been around two weeks and I still feel bothered by it. Either way, I have every right to be salty about it and I'm just putting this here to get this off my chest and maybe others might relate/learn from a thing or two too.

The Issue

As you might've seen on my video, we were informed of the news after queuing and nearing the time of the doors open. A lady even rushed us to go inside the hall because we were walking to the entrance during our turn.
A few minutes after seating on the next available [from the front] middle aisle seats, we were told to move in as the next batches of people will come from the middle. What logic is this?!

It is beyond me why they can't let the whoever's next come in from the sides, and that they can't just implement their rule from the next row onward since they are not seated yet. Needless to say, I find it ridiculous that those who queued later got to sit the middle seats by luck as people like us had to fill up the less desirable side seats.

The Trigger
For a moment they let us keep the seats, until a male staff came yelling at us how "according to my terms and condition there is strictly no choosing of seats", "we have no time can you just move" and things along that line.

Even the main organizer asked us nicely!! To be honest I thought it was a really low blow for them to pull that card, as I can also say that the event states that it is 7-1030pm, and thus I expect to be entertained throughout the entire duration that I paid for no?.

(The doors opened at 7, if anyone's wondering.)

Did I not read the event page properly?. Let me post the entire paragraph here in case the image is unclear. "IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a free seating event, to ensure smooth running of the event, you will be requested to fill up seats within the venue in an orderly manner by the event organisers and NO reservation of seats (i.e. cannot chope seats) is allowed."

The first five words literally says that it is a FREE SEATING event. We did not fill up the seats in a disorderly manner, neither did we [or anyone else for that matter] reserved any seats. My point is; we did nothing wrong and aren't asking for much.

The Disappointment
We all know that running a big event is not easy, but to do it at the expense of paying supporters is just not cool. If you want to act all mighty and "follow our terms and conditions", then you should also start treating it like a business and run your event properly.

It's also ridiculous that we have to cooperate with their flawed seating system because they were "running out of time" and "want to get the show started". Is it our problem that the show is delayed?. If anything, we should get treated better because they delayed our show.

Might as well just say it's not free seating in the first place and avoid any potential disagreements/"miscommunications". To make it worse, throughout the event they kept bringing up snide comments about the seats and views and being "kiasu". We have every right to be kiasu!!

For fun is it, we joined the queue early?! It's not like we come in late for free and want the best seat in the house!! We paid our freaking dues, literally!!

Resolution
So don't even try make it seem like I'm an entitled little keyboard warrior b*tch, just because I choose to voice out my displeasure unlike the majority. You should probably count yourself lucky because most of everyone else are cool dudes and won't start "drama".

Please also don't think of me trying to "stir $hit", because as angry it made me, it still pains my heart quite a bit to type this out. The last thing I want to do is find fault with people who's making moves and trying to take things to another level.

With that said, I will also not tolerate being treated less than average as I believe there's a way for it to be a win-win solution. It just seems to me like something that could and should be fixed before it's too late.

Conclusion
I know in the grand scheme of things this are just small matters but I can't help but feel shortchanged especially by an entity who are supposedly doing it "for the community".

The competition was good and in due time we will get past this, but until then, whatever's done is done. And it was NOT COOL.

It's like having a nice meal and leaving with a bitter aftertaste. Questioning if it's worth a return even though the steak was great.
